The person in the photos was me.

What is your story?

I’ve always been a plus sized girl and have been slowly working to accept my body as it is. The biggest change happened last year which was when my mum passed away. She truly struggled with her body all her life and there was the switch that went off where I decided that I didn’t want to do that to myself. And this photoshoot has been one of the ways I’m trying to change that for me.

Why did you want to do a boudoir shoot?

I’ve seen other people do boudoir shoots. They always look beautiful and confident, and I wanted to feel that way.

What was location of your shoot and why did you choose it?

It was actually Marina’s suggestion! I’d had in mind a beach type venue but after talking with Marina it didn’t fit with the feeling I was going for. We ended up at a reserve and it was the most wonderful and beautiful place to have a shoot.

How did you feel preparing for the session?

There were some nerves. There were some times where I wanted to call and cancel the whole thing and then reminding myself what I wanted from it and why. There was also a guide on how to prepare for the shoot, including drinking lots of water, and all of that information was really useful.

What was it like to be naked/ half-naked in front of the camera?

It’s oddly exciting and freeing! We started with being covered and then worked to what I was comfortable with. I knew that I may not do this again and wanted to just have the full engaged experience.

How did you feel after the session? What have you thought when you saw your images for the first time?

I felt really accomplished, like something had been ticket off the bucket list! When I saw the pictures, I was a little shocked, I couldn’t quite believe that the person in the photos was me.

Would you do it again?

Yes, absolutely. If you’ve ever seen post or images from other people’s shoots then you should 100% doing one for yourself.

Would you recommend a boudoir shoot to other women/men and why?

Yes, its such a wonderfully fulfilling experience. Marina is an amazing hype person, and she makes you feel so comfortable and empowered.

Do you have any tip for women/men who is planning to do a boudoir shoot?

Yes! Drink plenty of water, make sure you have a good meal and follow the guidelines sent before. It lets you make the most of it.
