Snake, pearls and burlesque fans

Where do I even start with this shoot? Marina and I have been creating magic together for two years now. For the recent boudoir session, we decided to try a 1920s inspired shoot with a little spin. The preparations for the photoshoot were quite elaborate and included lingerie shopping, a hairstyle trial just a few days before the shoot and sourcing a ray of props. We picked a hotel in Brisbane with a touch of Art Deco design. On the day of the photoshoot, I arrived at the hotel with a little secret in my bag. I wonder what the Uber driver would have said if he knew what he was transporting.

The secret? A pet snake, Sasha. Marina and I dabbled with the idea of the “Garden of Eden” idea but decided to fuse the two themes together for more of a Dangerous Woman feel. People in movies and TV always say, “never work with animals”, but lucky for us Sasha was a dream and we spent almost an hour and a half shooting with her. Marina encourage her as much as she encouraged me! It was a powerful and special moment to be photographed with an animal that a lot of people fear or find disgusting.

It was a magnificent journey, as always, and I had so much fun experimenting with new hair, makeup and, of course, props. From burlesque fans to pearls, to Sasha, each outfit and prop told a different story. Ultimately, one resounding vibe was present, “I am woman, hear me roar”. - Eden
